remembering in disbelief 
having done horrid things 
one tends to ask 
if one was himself 
for how else to explain 
the lack of faith 
in who you were then 
out of faith 
and so it seems that a man per chance 
may be out of faith out of faith 
and that if it should turn out 
to in fact be the case 
that it was not you then 
consequently it follows 
that you are not yourself 
from a future perspective 
of course 
and so never quite legit 
in any given way or form 
but if it was you 
and you own up to it 
then it follows 
that you are yourself now 
and there reason being 
why you've been so blind 
is that while you've been busy 
thinking about what you are seeing 
you never quite took the time 
to take a good look-see 
that in the meanwhile it is life 
which is blinding
