THOUGHTS ON TURNING 60
THOUGHTS ON TURNING 60 As our life stretched before us In an endless horizon We had barely a thought Of when it would end Our minds once consumed With daily survival With barely a clue that Someday we wouldn’t need to And all that we owned Through relentless pursuit Now lay irrelevant, Strewn across the room The things we once coveted, Are now but an afterthought With the final realization Did we need what we bought? We should have stopped To watch more birds We should have had Some caves to explore We should have paused To enjoy our children We should have stopped To watch them run We should have Loved a little harder So memories stay with us As our bodies faltered It’s still not too late To play catch up Since sixty is the new 50 I think I will start.
