To a childhood friend
We sat driving ourselves into frenzy Laughing at the butterflies dance Copying their fluid movements With supposed grace Smiling into the sun Falling into each other Holding on, strong Now you lost me I don’t need you I thought I needed you then I now wonder if I ever had Did, will You think I don’t remember They all thought I’d forget It still hurts, do you understand? I bet you don’t I bet you never did I still try I didn’t give up I won’t ever Will I know you don’t believe me I know you think I did You said I need to take initiative I had to think Do you realise that I was too young then Or did you conveniently forget? I look back It’s there, in colour Shining above the sun Your smile says you’ll help Do you still remember? Does your mind still wonder? Do you wish? Yes, I know you were young then As I was Yes, I do forgive Does it hurt so much that Even a letter Is too much evidence Of your guilt?
