Before my eye you stand – a pagan goddess, Your bodice I rhapsodically untie, Just you and I, as if the world forgot us, Above us shines a clear nocturnal sky. This leonine, impassioned fire singes I’m lost within the gauze of your sweet scent And burning for emollient contingence, Entranced by your pure beauty I transcend. The treasures which I own are transmundane Since avarice has never been my goal, So take instead the wealth I do contain – This madrigal of my enraptured soul. It seems my lofty words have not impressed, For you still charge me like you do the rest.
