To my mother
I remember the day I was born You cried tears of joy Because you’d just given birth To a beautiful baby boy A wonderful gift from God You looked up and whispered, “Thank you, Lord” You washed me and fed me You clothed and you took care of me You put a roof over my head You ensured that I was safe You protected me from any harm Gave all the love in your heart You watched me take my first step You taught me my first word You took me to my first class in school Any you came back to get me from work You came back from work about eight late Knowing you’re tired and out of strength But you’ll be in the kitchen Trying to fix us a hot plate A smile comes to my face When I reminisce on those days I cry and tears roll down my eyes When I think of those happy times I’m the man that I am- thanks to you I am where I am- all because of you If I owe anyone in this world It’s nobody else but…you!
