True Love At First Sight - September 1998

Remember high school sweethearts? the one you thought you'd be with forever? I want to share a true story of true love at first sight, you know the kind that happens overnight? She met him on the bus to school they met in grade 10 and dated, it was cool Everything was going strong and so great until another woman asked him on a date Being so young, he thought, what the hell how could she find out, who's gonna tell Best friends interfered and split them apart the girl had such a lonely, broken heart Pieces of her were shattered on the floor she didn't feel anything, like living anymore She stuck it out and fought for him back but his head got messed up from smokin' too much crack A year and a half they had been in love she was so lonely she did what anyone does Found someone new, and started again little did she know, they were still best friends The relationship was rocky, an off and on type thing it just wasn't working, there was no use in lying Single for years, she gets a phone call it was him, back in town, was it true love afterall? It only lasted another half of a year thats when he decided he would rather love beer He began drinking too much, and smokin' more pot it was obvious there was no love, not even liking a lot Another three lonely years went by a few dates here and there but most made her cry Sitting alone one day, expecting a call the phone rang, not who she was expecting at all It was here high school sweetheart calling to say "I'm sorry for the things I did, and I owe you someday" They decided to meet, and ever since then they have been much in love and more than just friends They plan to get married, and she's got the ring it didn't take long for her to mean everything Better than before, with love and respect never living in sadness or feelings of neglect I truly believe in love at first sight and that people can change, but not overnight Just give it some time, and then you will see how wonderful a true love experience can be Just one more thing that I am proud to say to leave you in happiness for the rest of the day Whoever thought that this would come to be the boy was Darren and the girl was me!
