True Love Doth Pass Away
4 November 2003 (Inspired by another poet) Tonight is the night of all the nights The night hath stolen my knight. The sun is bright and so is life But not the knight tonight. I stand to stand clutched in my hand A spade cleft deep in sand. Sand on sand I cannot understand The knight and the night by damned. I dig and dig and dare to give For what forgive did save. My feet I pound and kick and kick The opening of a grave. I flatten the sand, spade in my hand To rid the rid of regret. I smooth it out – the covered sand Knowing my hearts in it. True Love, True Love The Love doth pass away Out of hand A prayer, a dove, an elegy Such end do lovers have.
