Trying to change
When truth looks you in the eye, And it burns like a gaze at the sun You wonder as to your worth. Constantly fighting for change within Yet receiving war from those out and about. “A destiny of her own” they say, “Free will” they say. Character. Within lies a person clawing to get out, To try new things and think in new ways Yet ‘friends’ are afraid of her, as they cannot predict her movements and talents. They fear the unknown, the predator in the dark, But little do they know, that their predator Is a unicorn basking in the light. Constant ‘joking’ she receives, That chips away at an already fragile heart, Guilt and resentment fuel the energies Entrusted with repair of the heart, So that it may stare it’s chisel in the eye, And brace itself for another blow. Tragedy is truth. For when this marble heart meets it’s chisel, It cries tears of dust, as piece by piece, It is carved, And broken Into an image Of someone else.
