Two Rivers
(Another rip off of Robert Frost) Two rivers which I may transverse, In life I have this simple choice, Temptation of devotions curse, That often leads to something worse, But yet with one I might rejoice. The first is calm and flows at ease, The current treads an easy flow, The ripples hint of gentle breeze, And billow through the shore line trees, That’s shaded from the sunny glow. The second surges long the ground, Its rapids carve a narrow course, The gusting wind can here be found, Upon the shore the breakers pound, While echoing the river’s force. Across the first I see a view, A place I know I shouldn’t be, The path obscures choice number two, But yet my heart can still construe, A destinationright for me. Though easier the first would be, To just give in and choose to cross, Surrender to a moment’s plea, As if it all was given free, With not a thought or fear of loss. The second path that I portray, Its shore is hidden from my eyes, Should I ignore this thorny way, I know my heart I would betray, And forfeit any claim or prize. Although the journey may be hard, My chance at love I cannot know, But this I hold in high regard, An instinct which I’ve come to guard, As across the second creek I go.
