Unexplained 3
She woke up yet again From a terrifying nightmare And frankly she was starting to get tired Of these frequent nocturnal scares She was sitting straight up Drenched in sweat That had to be the worst nightmare That she had yet She realized that it had been a month Since she and the doctor last met She figured that she would deal with it First thing in the morning So she drifted back into a deep sleep And started snoring She woke up early The very next day She’s an early person and I guess things Have always been that way She got dressed And made herself some tea Then she scheduled an appointment Just a quarter after three She went to the appointment And they called her name She was finally ready To end this little game She went into the room And waited for the doctor to arrive She never thought that she would Feel so good to be alive The doctor came in and sat down Upon her face he saw no frown So the doctor asked her To tell him what’s wrong She was so ready to confess it was like She was about to sing a song She told him that she had been having nightmares And the reason why Was because her mom is an alcoholic And her dad had recently died The doctor said that He was sorry to hear it He felt sorry for her Her pain he could feel it “Now tell me why were you so scared To tell me this?” “I guess I was too scared and that I didn’t know how To deal with this shit.” “Well that is what I’m here for You can tell me anything I want to help you as a matter of fact I won’t charge you a thing Because I like you And you are nice girl I appreciate you for finally letting Your secrets unfurl If you ever need to get Anything off your chest You are welcome to come and see me anytime Just be my guest You look tired you should go home And get some rest.” So she went home And crawled into bed Glad that she finally got Those frightening images out of her head By Glenn McCrary © 2009 Glenn McCrary (All rights reserved)
