Untitled.
At the back of the crowd I wonder why I’m here. I know I need to be, because they’re paying me dear. It’s expected, you know, in the working world To sit back and absorb as they try to mould You to a corporate machine, a robot for their cause, So you start this life and you forget to pause And wonder if you’re still what you’re meant to be And you don’t know if you’re truly happy. Like it’s been a while and you forget your dream. You’re a kid no more and you need to scream. When I was small, I said I’d be an astronaut. Now I’m all grown up and it’s just a thought And as life unfolds all I do is get caught Up in the messed up way people do and get taught To place emphasis on material things Like expensive clothes and the joy it brings. But it’s just so wrong and it doesn’t last long. Soon you realize that it’s all just lies And the things that count, what it’s all about You can’t compare, to any amount Like friends and family and all the love From the one true God and the heavens above. So in years to come when we begin to doubt And we analyse and we all find out If we lived true life and what it’s meant to be. So I hope for all we can truly be free When we open our eyes and like what we see. At least I know that’s what I want for me.
