Voiceless Cry

I can see how the light may hurt, Rays of the sun piercing through The tattered remnants of 'me', Shadows may bring the numb comfort That I have grown to embrace Basking in the cool silence and emptiness But once in a while I begin to dream, And within the darkness of the nightmares The heart beats and remembers the glorious ache That love once brought into every breath, And the fingers reach high above Trying to find away to claw myself out For every time I ran from the pain, Turning my heart into stone colder than ice, That hole got deeper and the memory Of what love once was Fades deeper into the chasm That waits for those who forsake it. But break through hell and reach down And offer that hand that waits forever, For when I dream and remember Love is a pain worthy to remind us That lucky are those who are found, I shall reach up to touch you.
