Voices From The Other Side

·Solace?

You’ve been falling so long, it’s time you hit the ground. You’ve been screaming so long, you can’t recognize the sound. You’ve been crying so long, the tears have poured from crystal to scarlet Look, there’s an open door, you can’t escape it. Your eyes fall shut, and fly open. An image traces your mind’s vision. Sharpness of the blade on your skin. Blood pours from your own incision. These your thoughts you can’t elude till thoughts no more, they turn to behavior till every blade’s shape becomes an open door. There, spilling from an overturned bottle. Another door. Swallow it. Fall to sleep still standing. Body rushing at the floor. Eternal sleep you’re weary spirit’s demanding. The door, you can’t see past shadows to the other side. You’ve only to pass though, only to pass though Fear draws you and stays you. Wind tosses and empty rope. Before your eyes it changes to a noose. Thought and fears assault you. In you’re mind you hang there, waiting to be cut loose This is what you want, yet do not. This, dear soul, is your fate. Watch your footsteps lead you to where you’ll dissipate As your will to live already has. What keeps you from stepping though the open door? Where do these thoughts and pictures come from, you ask? Look within yourself, your thoughts, your core The wish for death came from the open door It built, and may you know, you opened the door yourself, long ago.
