WAIT IN VAIN- REVISED (VILLANELLE) I know for certain that you won’t be mine, Left in the lurch ,alone for love’s search , Though the time passes church-bellschime. Monday brings in morning grandeur, in pines, Promises unfulfilled , evening getsa march; I know for certain that you won’t be mine. Tuesday toss back memories of vines, Pressure of work ,looms large on patch; Though the time passes church-bells chime. Wednesday, Thursday real task time, They pass in whisker, leaving joy watch; I know for certain that you won’t be mine. Friday,Saturday sing in duet holiday tunes, Longing for love, know -nobody can snatch; Though the time passes church-bells chime. Sunday morning soars all hopes rhyme, To greet you near attic, away from the batch; I know for certain that you won’t be mine; Though the time passes church-bells chime. rajkumar@kolkata 08-03-2010 rajkumar@mukherjee
