What Have I Walked Upon?
What have I walked upon? They are the soft echoes of feeling That glide along a situation And dream during the night's passing. They travel lightly along a sleeve Only to shift with a stranger's word And an exhale of emotion Into that we wish to see. Yes, I have left her alone At the whim of a whistle Iron covers the days exposed Like gauze over a wound, And friends raise memories of gold Above idols wrought with silver
