What is in The Middle Of the Lake?

What’s In the Middle of the Lake Winter has arrived, The Lady of The Water sleeps. While someone walks upon the ice, To an island where his lover weeps. There is a castle at this land, With a dungeon dark and dank. That keeps a maiden bleak, The key into this hell with it’s maker sank. On a not so happy eve, The dungeon master touched the lake. The Lady could not forgive his hand, He’d made a grave mistake. The Damsel in Distress could not be saved, Now only in the winter dead. On a single day of ice, May her lover venture to her bed. They spend the night together, And in the morning break. He has to travel home, For his kingdom is at stake. He can only cross the ice, The water is forbidden. Humanity; The Lady has not forgiven. They’ve begged her for the key, To them she will not give. She sees no reason, Why their love should live. To a siren love is unbeknownst, She feeds on souls of man. She can not comprehend, What passion only can. The maiden and her king resorted to their faith, They spoke to God, began to pray. It should happen he knew the Lady of the Lake(she spared an angel once), And listened to the mortal’s say. He charmed the water nymph, To give up the key. In exchange for a never freezing lake, Did he bring the mortals glee? Jan 07 Sheena Allen
