What shall they say
What shall they say of me indeed? Perhaps, I wrote a poem or two; And then another ... So as to say: “I have some talent here; that one was not a fluke” At times I’d go for big words; Big thoughts Philosophy and wisdom I’d pose some questions? Made some statements? Bold and true, unlikely and unreal? could have been called aloof; too fastidious, recalcitrant and obstinate, behind my back and to my face ... dogmatic and too rigid Because of my beliefs But did I alienate? Make people into strangers? Or alienate myself? risk been labeled a fool But, truly what was I? If not fool or stranger or enemy to man none of those I wish for as time folds onto time and world upon world all this is naught, it matters not I wish for but one thing And one thing only at the end of my life to truly proclaim, I HAVE LIVED ... This poem written in response to "The Chapel of Yes" although I polished some pebbles with it.
