WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU!
WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU WHEN YOU GET OLD*What they don't tell you, is that when you get old, hair stops on your head and starts growing in your nose.Your hands start to hurt and fingers can't grip,a surprise when your coffee mug, gives you the slip.*As thoughts escape you, your lost for words, but five minutes later, you're a virtual bardThe grocery boy calls you mam instead of miss,as the visits increase when you have to go piss.*You become an insomniac, at night you can't sleep! There's a reason the clapper is sold after three! You can't do a cartwheel; you can't do the splitsAnd the whole Kama Sutra, is a son-of-a-bitch!*The list becomes shorter, as to what is still edible, and those shots of tequila might cause you to fall!People might not like, what becomes the inevitable, but aging's not kind, and neither is time!*The few redeeming features of the aging process at allIs that now you can choose, what you want to recall. If you don't want to hear it, you get to feign deafYour excused from the rat wheel, while waiting for death!*When each day alive is a virtual prizeYou laugh when you know the final surmise,"The last surprise, is when you come gradually to realize,That nothing suprises you anymore!"*WordPlaya, Feb 2009**********************************The last quote used in my poem, and the following poemIs by Richard Brautigan: "Heroine of the Time Machine"When she was fifteen if you'd told herthat when she was twenty she'd be goingto bed with bald-headed men and liking it,she would have thought you very abstract.
