Where were you?
'Where is dad?' 'Where is mum?' A little child pauses a question On one of many nights, He is old enough now To know that The person singing him to sleep Is not mum And is not dad, But he still pauses the question anyway Night after night 'Where is dad?' 'Where is mum?', I wonder what goes on in his lil head As he daily ponders his innocent thoughts Which eventually lead him to ask always 'Where is mum?' 'Where is dad?', What answer should he be given..? 'Dad is coming..' 'Dad went away..' 'Mum is coming..' 'Mum went away..' 'I don't know..', Cause noone knows for sure Where dad or mum is Whether dad or mum is coming back, The lil child eventually falls asleep With all sorts of questions Requiring real answers That will shape his future, Mum! Dad! Are you prepared.. To answer a future question From your child 'Where were you..?'
