"Then I desired to know the exact meaning of the fourth beast, which was different from all the others, exceedingly dreadful, with its teeth of iron and its claws of bronze, and which devoured, crushed and trampled down the remainder with its feet, - Daniel 7:19 I slit the tendons at the knees of thoughts, stuff their maws with garlic, beads and silver, sit by the maar with poppy seeds at night to keep them busy counting lest they flee through schoolboy Gorbals rumors, raise an army only to twice lie and disobey before they throw their childhood magic swords in craters where no Lady of the Lake abides; headmasters win the war and rule whilst I, with virgin pregnancy, must bury secrets alive and pray the Virgin Mary’s Mother in her chapel before I pluck from my nape magnesium metal teeth and cast them in the cauldron’s holy waters.
