Woman's Way
A Woman’s Way Your elfin eyes flicker faintly, fluttering to my soul As if to say: “Don’t worry, it’s okay; don’t worry it’s okay” But like you said, that’s a woman’s way My love, my love, the tide runs high With a siren’s call, so vague, so alone The ocean beckons desperately Seductive, its bestial moan The bitter muse demands a sacrifice from me Slipping silver coins into my hand “Turn away!” she softly screams “Depart this life, this love, this land!” Those glacial tears pouring, seething with hate This unsaid oath, this silent vow We are impaled on a single spear We huddle near, nearer, now Far off brushstrokes on a sepia canvas Droplets of despair raining down that night All seem so slight now And we clung to each other like lovers cling tight Your forgiveness is salt on an open wound Haunted by kisses and my broken promises Your bite a brand of my selfishness Yet… Your eyes engulf me And for a time, I lose myself With innocence, with lust and desire With the spicy fire of an elfin pyre, As if to say: “Don’t worry, don't worry, it’s okay,” Like you said, that’s a woman’s way.
