Work Hard, Play Hard

Work Hard, Play Hard. Get to work early Stay at work late, Living the high life Isn't life great? Great paying jobs Allows us to afford much, Using our monthly incomes As a financial and emotional crutch. For the more we make The more we spend, Keeping up with the Jones' Our monies help mend. Those emotional and childhood problems Of surpassing all that our parents had, Without wanting to waste time So scary, so sad. Work Hard, Play Hard. Always wanting the best Never admitting fault, For those desires and cravings That never comes to a halt. It's "let's buy this" or "let's buy that" Never hesitating to wonder the cost, For "we have to have this or that" With all hope of slowing down lost. Can we not be happy? With what we have in life, Content, satisifed, ok Without things, without strife. Of years gone by Society and intrinsic urges, Wants and got to haves Like hurricane surges. Oh, deep water Take me out with you, And cleanse all my worldly desires Happy with who we are all too few. Work Hard, Play Hard. Back to work we go Paying for those bills, That we have accrued Savings that it kills. For the future holds no more truths Than the past years of hope, Despairs abbreviated triumph Every lost season to cope. Jobs equal Income Income equals Spending, Spending equals Trouble Now Borrowing instead of Lending. Make more but don't make less Lifes' doors of happiness close, With every downfall of green Purchases fall, debt rose. We must work hard It's in our genes, But play hard too To justify the means. Work Hard, Play Hard! Play Hard, Work Hard! Which comes first?
