Written in the wind
There was a time when wild winds roared through open fields and sky When an old sage charmed us with fairytales, his memories will never die And when the faint sound of steam-engine whispered in our ears We watched the horizon with curious eyes waiting for it to appear. There was a river in its stately grace, flowed with all its might Where we tossed the stones on its surface and watched it jump with delight The field was vast, and we the rulers alone, roamed innocent, pure and untamed Every moment golden memories were made and freedom its glory claimed. While in the summer our paper-diamonds soared high and adorned the heaven with intricate care it’s flight-path was aligned before the wind rendered it even then a wild cacophony resounded the air, as quarrels intensified under the setting sun in the end skeleton-sticks remained, a result from the fight before the day was done. Yet the next day would bring fresh smiles to venture for a new adventure in a new land Armed with bows, and boomerangs a hunt would begin under the leader’s command. with fishing rods equipped the bait was placed, the rest a matter of patience some returned prince while some were paupers who were yet to learn their lessons. I could sing you the song of our golden days if once you take me in your game I won’t fail you my friend, I promise, I won’t let down your name. I want to re-live my childhood days but friends are hard to find Only their evergreen memories are now written in the wind.
