yard pirates

·saloon

i burned a day with a worryless girl sun-poked and late for lunch we rode a silver car from yard to yard stepping around piles of otherpeople's things small nervous dogs shivering in messy garages musty blankets and video cassette recorders offered at every stop i bought a stuffed chewbacca and put him in the rear window to ward off unskilled drivers my girl filled the back seat with orphaned gadgets and bottles of glitter and a george foreman grill (they are known to make good sandwiches) the sun slipped away so we rode the silver car to the dirty river and ate little pink balls of ice cream as the trees shook off an afternoon drizzle
