You Have Taught Your Angel
In this labyrinth, where night is blind I am floating, falling Angel I heard you Now I cannot ever be free Poor fool that I was, I tried so hard to free you, To make your darker side give in. You were a wandering child Who yearned for my guidance Can you bare to find the man behind the monster? You little prying pandora, You showed me the light of day. All I wanted was to be with you, beside you, To hold you and to hide you In that darkness. Damn you, curse you For you brought our games of make believe To an end My soul began to soar As you came to your strange angel I gave you my music, I gave you my mind And in return you touched me You trusted me. My wish came true You stayed by my side, Guided me from the darkness Of my black despair There was no more talk of darkness In that world of unending night. I was taught to hide my face, But you gave me the chance to live You lead me, And saved me from my solitude You alone, can make my song take flight, But do I have any choice? Why should I make you pay For the sins which are mine? You could start a new life with me, But then you could not ever be free I love you. Pitiful creature that I was You showed me that I am not alone Go now and leave me. You, flattering child, Have taught your angel to love Just promise me you'll think of me For there will never be a day that I won't think Of you. Go now and leave me, It's over now. *This is a Found poem using the lyrics of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera. These lyrics belong to him, I just used them to make my poem in the phantom's point of view. I love this musical, so I took his material and made it into my own piece of work.*
