Your liitle girl

This is dedicated to my dad... Your little girl You put her down for a nap Held the same little girl on your lap When she fell you dried her tears Got up in the night to comfort her fears She got older and you took her to school Said you'd beat up the kids who were cruel Helped her to finish her homework in time No matter what went wrong you always stayed sublime And in the glory of her achievements you basked Gave words of wisdom whenever she asked Still you worried that you'd grow apart one day And for her friendship you often did pray You watched her grow, hid you sorrow As you helped her to trust in tomorrow You longed for time to freeze once in a while So that you could always hold onto her smile What terrible sorrows await your baby child All of the unknown is sometimes driving you wild But you know that one day she'll fly the nest All you ever want for her is the very best So until then you'll hold on tight And try your hardest never to fight Your little girl knows how much you love her That if you could you'd cling to her like a bur Not just today but every day of the year In my heart I'll always stay near I want to tell you that I love you too And that I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have you
