Your Smile
You once showered me with adoration, When I looked at you I was at peace and on edge. Your smile determined the course of my day. I lived and breathed to see it, I died and cowered when it is was not there. In the morning I held my breath And peaked through my half asleep eyes, To check for my salvation, Your smile. Your smile saved me, The light in your eyes sustained me. Until it didn't. One day with no warning or reason, Your smile changed. In the beginning you smiled when you kissed me, Now you snarl. You used to caress me, Now you grab me without love or passion. Once you kissed me softly, And nibbled at my ear. Now you hold my neck with an iron fist grip. Your smile was my sunshine, You were my truest love. Now you are the warden to the prison We once called home. I loved you. Now I fear you.

Hi! I'm an amateur at writing poetry and a huge fan of reading it! I'm grateful for tips on how to improve as it's a hobby of mine, and I'd love to improve my skills. I have plenty of ideas, but I struggle with formatting and pace.
